POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously injured in an attack in Huddersfield yesterday.

Kirklees District CID would like to speak to anyone who has information on what is believed to have been a targeted attack on Spinners Close.

Officers were called to the area at around 8.07pm last night, to a report that a male had suffered serious injuries after being attacked with weapons, including a bladed one, by a group of masked men. 

Police attended and located a man in his 20s who had suffered severe leg injuries. 

He was taken to hospital for treatment to the injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

The suspects were described as wearing dark clothing and balaclavas.

DCI Oliver Coates of Kirklees Police said: "This has clearly been a very serious attack, and I can promise residents that a full investigation is ongoing, with a number of active enquiries underway.

“We do believe this was a targeted assault against the victim and that there was no risk to the wider public.
