THESE are the 12 Bradford areas with the worst Covid-19 infection rates over the past week.

In each of the dozen neighbourhoods the infection rate is more than 1,700 cases per 100,000 people, meaning one in 58 people had the virus in the past seven days.

During this time frame – the seven days to January 13, the most up to date reliable figures – the infection rate in Bradford was 1,370.3, down from 1,849.6 a week earlier when the wave of the Omicron variant was at its worst in the district.

The number of cases is beginning to fall now in Bradford, in line with national trends, but some areas are still experiencing high levels of infection that are continuing to go up, and Bradford has the highest Covid-19 infection rate in West Yorkshire.

More than 7,400 people in Bradford have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past seven days.

The best way to protect yourself from infection, and from serious illness or death from Covid-19, is to get vaccinated if you haven’t had a jab already, to get your second dose if you’ve only had one vaccine, or to get a booster vaccine if you have had two jabs so far.

In Bradford, there are still more than a quarter of people who have not had any vaccines yet. Some of the areas with the highest infection rates currently also are among the lowest in the district for vaccine uptake.

The 12 Bradford district areas with the highest infection rates in the past seven days are:

On booster jabs, in Toller Lane & Infirmary only 20.8 per cent have had the third dose, and Windhill and Keighley Exley Head are the only areas with a booster rate above 50 per cent.
