A BRADFORD man has been issued with a hefty bill of over £400 after failing to pay for a train ticket.
Christopher Plover, 38 of Walmer Villas, Manningham, Bradford, failed to present a ticket at Manchester Piccadilly Station on August 5, 2021.
Plover travelled between Stalybridge and Manchester Piccadilly; he boarded the train without a ticket even though all ticket purchasing facilities at Stalybridge station were functioning.
Plover was issued with a penalty fare notice, which would require him to pay double the fare or £20 depending on which was the greater cost.
However, the penalty notice was unpaid, even after a reminder letter was posted.
The initial cost of the ticket from Stalybridge to Manchester Piccadilly was £4.40 but after failing to pay the penalty notice, Mr Plover was ordered to pay the £220 fine alongside £4.40 with a victim charge of £34 and costs of £150.
In total Plover must pay £408.40 by February 4, 2022.
