A TOWN in Kirklees has been given a namecheck on an episode of a popular TV soap.
Heckmondwike was named by one of the characters in an episode of ITV’s Coronation Street.
On the episode, shown on Wednesday, January 12, a sweet-toothed resident in Heckmondwike was trying to secure an order of some Dolly Mixtures.
The mention came in a brief exchange between characters Rita Sullivan and Gordon outside The Kabin newsagents on the famous cobbled street.
On meeting Gordon outside the newsagents after he dropped off a delivery, Rita says: ‘Thank you, Gordon.”
But a rushed Gordon replies with: “No worries, I’ll be back tomorrow with the rest of the order.
“I best be off, as I have an emergency delivery of Dolly Mixtures to get to Heckmondwike.”
The full episode, broadcast at 7.30pm, can be seen on the ITV Hub catch-up service.
