OFFICIALS have confirmed that someone "deliberately" started a fire at a former pub in Bradford city centre.
A fire broke at 5.10pm yesterday on the ground floor of The Star pub, in Westgate, which used to be one of Bradford's well-known drinking venues.
Two fire engines from Bradford Fire Station one from Fairweather Green Fire Station and emergency services attended.
Dave Burland, watch commander at Bradford Fire Station, said: "The fire was started deliberately, but we're not sure what they sourced to start the fire.
"It was a small fire in the old bar area and it spread into the seating area. It took us 30 minutes to put it out."
Firefighters used six breathing apparatus and three hose reels to extinguish the fire.
Police reported there were no injuries in the fire.
Roads were closed around the area while firefighters battled the blaze.
