Members of the public are encouraged to find out more about the work of the Combined Authority and engage on the Combined Authority Budget for 2022-23.

Questions can be asked on the Combined Authority’s Your Voice engagement website or on social media using the hashtag #TellTracy An animation hosted on the Combined Authority’s website and on Your Voice explains what the Combined Authority and Mayor of West Yorkshire do, where funding comes from and how it is spent to improve the region.

Budget plans for the new financial year set out how money will be spent on developing Mayoral and Combined Authority priorities such as delivering 21st century transport, tackling the climate emergency, improving skills, boosting productivity, enabling inclusive growth and policing and crime.

The Mayor has the opportunity to introduce a Mayoral precept on West Yorkshire council tax bills, but due to the cost of living crisis the Mayor has determined not to raise a precept for this financial year.

The policing budget is held separately to the Combined Authority Budget. Public engagement on the Police Budget is currently open.

Mayor of West Yorkshire and Chair of the Combined Authority Tracy Brabin said: “I’ve got some ideas about how I want to prioritise the Combined Authorities’ budget next year. But I want to hear from you, the people of West Yorkshire, about what your priorities are.

“It’s been an incredibly hard couple of years for everyone in our region. As we begin to re-build our economy after the pandemic, I want to ensure we invest to give everyone access to a good job and great quality of life. We want to make sure the region has the modern transport network it needs to thrive and we will work to create a clean, healthy, safe and inclusive environment that everyone can enjoy.

“I really want to hear from you, so please send us your questions either via our Your Voice page or by using the hashtag #TellTracy and tagging @WestYorkshireCA on social media.”

Engagement on the Combined Authority Budget 2022-23 is open until January 26.
