Batley and Spen Neighbourhood Policing Team and Roads Policing Officers conducted speed check and stop checks on vehicles across Batley and Birstall.

Operation Torrbank, the joint operation with Kirklees Council,  started on Thursday January 6 and finished on Sunday January,9, 2022.

Officers concentrated on the Birstall and Birkenshaw ward area starting in the early afternoon at school finishing time. Two tickets were issued, one to a motorist for failing to wear a seat belt and one for causing an obstruction.

Attention was then paid to Oxford Road and Bradford Road where 18 Tickets were issued for twenty offences.

Police patrolled the Batley West Ward area on Friday and initially attended Deighton Lane; the school parking was busy but in general everyone was trying to do the right thing. Whilst at Deighton Lane, one ticket issued for a mobile phone offence.

The following was achieved on Bradford Road and Healey Lane, Staincliffe Hall Road at the junction of Halifax Road.

15 Tickets for 17 offences and one verbal warning.

On Saturday Officers were in the Gomersal area one driver was OPL (over the prescribed limit) for Cocaine and Cannabis.

On Sunday Officers attended the Batley East ward area where 17 motorists were dealt with and issued with traffic offence reports these included Speeding, and one for no Insurance and a was a disqualified driver, the vehicles were seized.

Operation Torrbank continues in the Batley and Spen ward area.
