A LANDSCAPE strategy for a proposed £60m mixed-use development in Hipperholme details how woodland habitat would be created as part of the scheme.

Outline plans for the 27-acre Crosslee Park development include 106 homes, a care home and retirement village, employment and commercial space and a supermarket.

Developer Crosslee Properties has formulated a landscape strategy for the site, which details both the retention and enhancement of habitats within the site with the aim of achieving positive biodiversity.

This includes enhancing the woodland that is retained, as well as planting almost 300 new native trees.

The developer also plans to install bird and bat boxes, design permanent fencing and boundaries to include small gaps to allow hedgehogs to pass through the site, and use cut timber to create habitat piles to encourage invertebrate diversity.

Crosslee Properties director, David Ross, said: “Our vision is to develop our land into a thriving, mixed-use development and a big part of that is ensuring we have a solid landscape strategy in place which not only makes the space look great but also promotes positive biodiversity."

Plans for Crosslee Park will be heard by Calderdale Council’s planning committee in the coming weeks.
