A POLICE car was smashed up in a crash with two other vehicles.

The collision happened on Cooper Lane (B6147), near the roundabout that connects it to Carr House Lane and Carr House Road, in Shelf.

West Yorkshire Police was called to the crash at 4.50pm yesterday.

A spokesperson for the force confirmed a police car and two other vehicles were involved in the collision.

A member of the public, who was wandering on to Lidl on Carr House Road at 5.20pm, filmed a video of the aftermath.

He said there was a large police presence at the scene of the crash, with the ambulance service there as well.

The video showed that the airbag on the driver's side of the police car had deployed, as a result of the collision.

The front of the police car was completely destroyed, with the bonnet bent upwards.

But there were no injuries reported, according to the spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police.
