THESE are the nine Bradford takeaways, restaurants and shops told they needed to make improvements in their food hygiene standards last month.

Each of the outlets was given a food hygiene rating between zero and two by the Food Standards Agency in December following inspections a month earlier.

One takeaway was handed a zero rating, two received a one star rating, and the other six were handed two star ratings.

All must make immediate improvements to either their food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities, or management of food safety, or a combination of all three.

Nadeem Savoury Hut in Carlisle Road, Manningham, was handed a zero food hygiene rating by inspectors, meaning urgent improvement is necessary.

Major improvement is needed in all areas at the takeaway, with food preparation, cooking and storage all way below acceptable standards, as well as the cleanliness of facilities. Better systems are also needed to ensure food is safe to eat.

The takeaway has never had a food hygiene rating above three, and has been two or below at every inspection since 2016.

Receiving one star food hygiene ratings were Jade Garden, in Beck Hill, Buttershaw, and The Pintoh, in Church Street, Ilkley.

At Jade Garden, while food handling is “generally satisfactory”, improvement is needed in cleanliness and condition of facilities, and major improvement is needed in the management of food safety.

Standards have slipped again at Jade Garden; it had been two star rated last February and in 2018, with major improvement needed to get food hygiene standards up to acceptable levels.

At The Pintoh, while the cleanliness of facilities is rated as “good”, and hygienic food handling “generally satisfactory”, it is management of food safety that needs major improvements.

It’s a big fall for the Thai restaurant and takeaway, having had a four star rating at the last visit in January 2020 and a five-star rating in 2017.

The remaining six takeaways have all received two star ratings, meaning improvement is necessary to get food hygiene back to acceptable levels for diners.

At Ali’s Takeaway in Gaythorne Road, West Bowling, while food handling and food safety management are generally satisfactory, improvement is needed in the cleanliness and condition of facilities.

This is another venue where the rating has fallen, from three stars awarded in January 2019.

At Bismillah Roti in Whitby Road, Girlington, it was the same story with food handling and safety management generally satisfactory and improvement needed in cleanliness of facilities.

Again, food hygiene standards have slipped from three in 2019 to two stars.

BOXD Chinese in Cottingley Road, Sandy Lane, was judged the same with food handling and management of food safety satisfactory but improvement needed in the cleanliness and condition of facilities.

It’s another big drop, from the five star rating it received in May 2021.

Next up is China Garden in Southfield Lane, Great Horton, where the situation again was the same, satisfactory food handling and safety management but improvement needed in the state of facilities.

The two rating is another big drop, from its previous four rating in 2019 and 2017, and five star in 2015.

At Kashmir Restaurant in Morley Street in the city centre, the cleanliness of facilities and food safety management were judged to be satisfactory, but improvement is needed in the hygienic preparation, cooking and storage of food.

It’s another big drop in standards; Kashmir had received three five-star ratings in a row between 2015 and 2019.

The final poorly rated outlet was Supreme Indulgence, Killinghall Road, Laisterdyke. While food safety management is satisfactory, improvement is needed in the hygienic handling of food and cleanliness of facilities.
