NORTHERN Powergrid is temporarily closing Lane Side, Wilsden, later this month while it carries out road repairs.

The £30 million investment work, which started in September 2019 and is due to be completed by the end of 2022, involves excavating in the road to lay new underground electricity cables to improve Bradford's electricity network.

Northern Powergrid’s work at Lane Side involves making carriageway repairs, which follows work carried out last year to repair a damaged culvert underneath the road close to the Ling Bob pub near the roundabout at the junction of Main Street and Haworth Road, Wilsden.

The work is being carried out between 7am on Saturday, January 22, and 7pm on Sunday, January 23.

Power will not be turned off for the work and although the road will be closed to passing vehicles there will be 24-hour access for pedestrians and emergency vehicles.

The K17 Keighley Jets bus service will follow a short diversion route, but timetables will be unaffected.

A signposted diversion will be in place along Main Street, Harden Lane, Wilsden Road, Long Lane and the B6429 Bingley Road.

Northern Powergrid will also carry out work over spring/summer to remove equipment associated with the old power network.
