JANUARY blues will be a thing of the past as Yeadon Town Hall hosts a comedy night and a panto paved with gold this month.

Extending a hearty Happy New Year to friends, neighbours and patrons, the town hall team hopes to see plenty of smiles on people’s faces as the venue hosts an array of light-hearted entertainment.

Yeadon Town Hall Comedy on Saturday, January 15, is a new night of stand-up comedy headlined by Geoff Norcott and supported by Simon Wozniak and Rob Mulholland.

As a rare phenomenon in British comedy - a right-wing comedian - Geoff Norcott is known nationally for his many TV appearances on Live at The Apollo, Mash Report, Mock The Week, Have I Got News For You and Question Time as well as his many sell-out Edinburgh Fringe runs and three national tours. Operating outside the usual comedic commentary on politics and social issues, Geoff has carved a real niche for himself.

Supporting Geoff will be Simon Wozniak, an up-and-coming Liverpool comic, and Yorkshire's own Rob Mulholland. The three comedians will be introduced by 'master of ceremonies' Robson Stroud who has managed comedy nights both in the local area and across the country for more than 25 years. Tickets cost £18.

For a family friendly night out at the theatre, locals are encouraged to go along to see Dick Whittington. Presented by Yeadon Charities Association, the annual pantomime is a firm favourite amongst Yeadon Town Hall patrons.

Featuring a cast of local talent, the story will follow Dick Whittington who searches for fame, fortune and happiness in London Town. With help from the magical Fairy Bowbells and his trusty feline friend, what could possibly go wrong?

This year’s pantomime runs from January 21 to January 29.

Jamie Hudson, Director of Yeadon Town Hall, said: “After the last few years, we’re all looking forward to having a laugh. January is going to be a hilarious month for Yeadon Town Hall, and it’s going to be so lovely hearing laughter ring through the building. We can’t wait to welcome top class comedians and our local cast of panto stars to the stage this month.”

The town hall is also getting ready for a fabulous February, featuring an array of party nights, live music and family-friendly spectaculars including:
