CROWDS packed into Valley Parade in 1988 to see Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

The Nobel Peace Prize-winning activist for racial justice and LGBT rights, who worked tirelessly against apartheid in South Africa, died this week, aged 90.

In the summer of 1988 Archbishop Tutu, who was in the UK for the Lambeth Conference, attended a service at Bradford Cathedral before speaking at a mass rally at Bradford City football ground.
