A MAN in his 60s was injured when the car he was driving left the road and crashed through a drystone wall – ending up in a field.

Emergency services were scrambled to the scene of the single-vehicle accident in Haworth Road, Cullingworth, at about 4.45am today.

Crews from Keighley and Bingley fire stations also attended the scene and helped free the man from his car, using specialist cutting equipment.

The man who had been driving a Renault was taken to hospital with suspected serious injuries.

A spokesperson for the West Yorkshire Police said: “Emergency services were in attendance today at a road traffic collision on Haworth Road, Cullingworth.

“The incident occurred at approximately 4.40 am when a vehicle came off the road and collided with a dry-stone wall.

“The driver was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.”

A police cordon was put in place at the scene, but this was removed a short time later.

There are ongoing inquiries into the circumstances of the accident.
