A BRADFORD police team has vowed to hunt down organised crime groups after finding a cannabis farm worth more than £400,000.

West Yorkshire Police's Bradford South Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) raided a property in the Odsal area this morning.

It was on the back on intelligence received from people in the community.

Officers found a large cannabis farm inside the address, which had an estimated value of more than £400,000.

There was also evidence suggesting someone may have been exploited into working in the production process, according to a spokesperson for Bradford South NPT.

The electricity was "unsurprisingly" bypassed at the property and an extra feed had been illegally, and dangerously, installed directly from the mains in the road.

Northern Powergrid had to undertake thousands of pounds worth of work to rectify the situation.

This, plus electricity being unlawfully abstracted, has a knock-on effect to those who actually pay their bills, according to the Bradford South NPT spokesperson.

They added: "Time and time again, we discover cannabis grows set up and managed by organised crime groups which see vulnerable individuals controlled, dangerous electric work, often seen to start fires, putting neighbours and the workers at risk and the resultant effects including costs upon decent, honest people in the community who just want to live a decent life and do their best by one another.

"Bradford South Neighbourhood Policing Team and West Yorkshire Police will hunt down and bring to justice those who selfishly cause harm to our communities and thank the community for the information that they provide to police to allow us to take action against those involved in organised crime.

"If you wish to let us know about things ongoing in the community that are illegal, including drugs offences such as this, you can do so by utilising the contact options on the website at www.westyorkshire.police.uk or completely anonymously utilising Crime Stoppers at crimestoppers-uk.org."
