AGE UK Bradford District has teamed up with online community platform Mirthy to provide three months' free access to online activities and groups.

As winter arrives, keeping socially-connected and active becomes a bit more challenging for everyone and online activities and groups can provide a great way to combat loneliness.

Age UK Bradford District has launched a new partnership with Mirthy, a community and activities platform for over-50s that aims to help combat loneliness and promote learning and socialisation.

Mirthy believes that an active life, bursting with education and entertainment, should be accessible to all.

Mirthy users can host or take part in free and affordable group activities online, with audience interaction and socialising, from the comfort of their home.

As a special offer, Age UK Bradford District can provide older people with three months' free access to online groups and activities.

Mark Rounding, Age UK Bradford District chief executive, said: "I am pleased we are able to offer a way for older people to stay connected, keep active and not feel so alone over the winter months.

"Our partnership with Mirthy provides lots of options for online interaction, which we know can help people feel less lonely."

There is no commitment to purchase anything and you will not need to provide any bank details to access activities and courses.

The online platform was developed with its users in mind, so is simple and easy to use for those not tech-confident.

Activities include insightful talks and lectures, entertainment and music, fitness classes, a monthly book club, cooking demonstrations, creative workshops, and there is an ever expanding catalogue of events.

Events can be accessed from a computer, smartphone or tablet and all people need is Zoom and an internet connection.
