A SUPERFAN is set to share his love of a 1980s movie trilogy with others after setting up a day dedicated to the popular franchise.

Mike Hutchinson is running Future Fanfest, a day-long event where fans of Back to the Future can meet up.

At the event, held at Blackpool's Winter Gardens on Saturday, January 29, 2022, he will show off replica items he has made from the iconic films.

Mr Hutchinson, of Bingley, has helped build a replica of the Time Travel Train, alongside Ian Robinson, as featured in the third instalment of the popular film franchise starring Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd.

The steam train was made famous by Lloyd’s character, Doc Brown, in the final film of the Sci-Fi trilogy released in 1990.

Mr Hutchinson also spent about £20,000 turning his car into a replica of the DeLorean used by Marty McFly in the 1985 cult classic.

The work, completed in 2015, took him two years to complete and the conversion includes castings from the original car which is in Universal Studios in Hollywood.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

Future Fanfest will feature large fan made set builds and props, as seen in the films.

Claudia Wells, who played Jennifer Parker, Marty McFly's girlfriend, in the original 1985 film, will also meet fans at the event.

There will be cosplay, photo opportunities as well as Zoom-style questions and answers session with some of the cast and crew from the films.

A percentage of the ticket sales will go to Team Fox, the grassroots community fundraising program of The Michael J Fox Foundation.

The event will be open at 10.04am, which is a reference to the movies when, during the Hill Valley Thunderstorm, a bolt of lightning strikes the Clock Tower at precisely 10.04pm.

It will be hosted by Adam Corbally, who reached the final of the 2012 edition of BBC One's The Apprentice.

Mr Hutchinson said: "This is the first time we have done this.

"It's a big thing, it will be the first time we have introduced the time travel train to Back to the Future lovers.

"It is a social fanfest of Back to the Future lovers to share their story and love of the films.

"I thought I would set up a fanfest from fans to fans. It is purely Back to the Future. It will see fans of the film getting together."
