A BRADFORD-based DJ and producer is celebrating after two of his hits have gone platinum including a popular Christmas tune.

Harry Bhangal has achieved the accolade for his Morlando remix of Kelly Clarkson's modern Christmas smash hit, Underneath the Tree, to go alongside the same award for his work on DJ Casper's Cha Cha Slide.

He says he is proud of receiving a BPI Certified Platinum award for his work on Clarkson's 2013 popular festive hit.

Mr Bhangal is known around Bradford for his DJ work at bars including S29 and Lingards in the city during the late 1990s and early 2000s.

He has also produced on music for a host of pop music's biggest names including Kylie Minogue, Jason Derulo, Erasure and Katy Perry.

He produced the 2004 UK number one hit Cha Cha Slide in his bedroom of his Bradford city centre.

He has worked under a host of alias names including Morlando and Brixxtone during his career in music now spanning more than 20 years.

Mr Bhangal now hosts a show every Thursday on Gaydio radio station and live streams a DJ set every week, which he started during the first lockdown last year.

He said: "Once you are attached to a Christmas song, that's you for life.

"I don't mind being associated with two massive tracks.

"The platinum news has come as a bit of a surprise. I guess people have been listening to more music on Spotify and Apple Music.

"At family dos I have to run away and hide as people want me to do the dance to Cha Cha Slide when it comes on. But I sometimes do the dance on my live streams.

"Cha Cha Slide is massive on TikTok now. It was one of the biggest things I have ever done.

"I used to DJ in Bradford. I was always known in Bradford as the guy who plays the banging trance music.

"I'm also known for my work with the Friday Night Posse in Bradford.

"I feel very appreciative for working in the industry.

"I never had any flash of fame. Most people don't know I have worked on these songs. That means I can continue to work behind the scenes.

"When I started out, I wanted to be a serious dance music producer. Instead, I'm known for working on two of the biggest party and Christmas tracks. I don't mind."
