A WOMAN threw a glass at the manager of Skipton Wetherspoon's pub, The Devonshire, after he banned her for six months, heard Skipton Magistrates Court.

Sally Omelia, 40, picked up a glass and told Alex Drake 'ban this' before throwing it at him, the court heard on Friday.

The glass struck him in the face causing a cut that needed to be glued at hospital, the court was told.

Prosecuting, Nadine Clough, said Omelia had reacted after being told by another member of staff not to move tables in the outside seating area of the Newmarket Street pub on May 11. The tables had been placed apart to maintain social distancing because of coronavirus regulations, said Ms Clough.

Mr Drake had intervened after Omelia had verbally abused the staff member. Omelia had then thrown the glass underarm at Mr Drake, hitting him in the face, and injuring him, said Ms Clough.

Following the incident, Mr Drake had changed his place of work.

Omelia, of previous good character, of Otley Road, Skipton, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm. She was sent to Bradford Crown Court for sentencing on December 29.
