THE winner of a children's 'Great Bradford Bake Off' competition is to donate £250 of her prize money to the Forget Me Not Children's Hospice.

The competition, organised by A2Z Learning Centre on Legrams Lane, Bradford, was kicked off by Great British Bake Off contestant Sandy Docherty.

She spoke about the joy baking can bring and shared stories about her time on the popular television show and how her love of baking grew.

Jodie Hargreaves, from A2Z, said judges had a difficult time choosing a winner as the standard was so high.

In third place, with a rollercoaster-themed cake was seven-year-old Maryam Bismillah, while second place was awarded to eight-year-old Asbah Shaheen for a pink, chocolate drip cake.

In at first place, and the winner of £500, was Manaahil Raqeeb, 11, who presented a semi-naked carrot cake decorated with handmade fondant hedgehogs, squirrels, and pine trees.

She has chosen to send £250 to the Forget Me Not Children's Hospice, as it is a cause close to her heart.

Jodie said it was an "amazing" event and added: "All of the children made beautiful cakes, we wish we could have given them all first place awards as they all truly deserved it."
