A POPULAR restaurant in Bradford opened its doors in a new location this week.

Award-winning Indian restaurant, Sultan, which was previously on Manningham Lane has moved to a bigger location on Keighley Road, Bradford.

Owner, Habib Ur Rehman, 62 has now brought the building on Keighley Road, which has been described by his family as "an amazing achievement."

It will sell authentic Indian dishes, and the previous Sultan restaurant was rated on Trip Advisor as the 24th best restaurant in Bradford, out of 458.

His daughter Nazia Habib said: "It's a big achievement for my dad, we're so proud of him. This one is his own place, the previous restaurant was a rented property but all his handwork has paid off and we're so proud of him."

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

"Throughout his lifetime, my dad has had a fair few restaurants which have been based in Bradford and other places such as Honley, Holmfirth and Skelmanthorpe. He has worked hard to get it where it is today, and his efforts are finally paying off and dreams are coming true."

"This is a bigger location, because previously the customer demand was higher than the amount of seating available.. There's also a family room upstairs for people who want a bit of privacy, with private booths."

"Many people come from different cities to come to Sultans and try the authentic flavours. We are really excited for our old and new customers to come and see the new restaurant."

The family-run business, which was first established in 1976, has won awards in the past, including the Best Takeaway at the Bradford Curry awards in 2018.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

Nazia said a lot of work has gone into getting the restaurant ready. She added: "Because of Covid it was very difficult and all the work got stopped so it took over a year to get to where he is today and to get it all done."

The business will be run with the help of his sons, Osama Haroon Habib and Zain Ul Abidin Habib, who helped choose the restaurant's decor.

Habib first opened his business in Shipley in 1976, before moving to Manchester Road, Honley, and then back to Bradford again.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

Nazia said her dad chose the new location because he "liked the building," and "the location was perfect.

The family would like to thank "each and everyone who has supported the business family friends and customers."

The official launch event took place on Wednesday, December 1.

The new restaurant is located at 204-206 Keighley Road, BD9 4JZ. It will be open from 12pm from Wednesday to Sunday.
