A NEW campaign had been launched to give people across the Bradford district the information and advice they need to help them to help themselves and others by staying warm and well and doing all they can to reduce pressures on the NHS and other services over the winter period.

The campaign has been put together by Bradford Council, Community Action Bradford & District, Race Equality Network and Act as One.

To launch the campaign a new booklet has been produced which contains lots of information, advice, self-care tips and useful contacts as well as offering practical advice to help people look after their mental and physical well-being

The booklet outlines the support available for carers, information about housing, food and fuel poverty, domestic abuse, finances and bills. It also contains information to help residents to prepare and plan for wintry weather including information about gritting and travel.

Bradford Council, Community Action Bradford & District, Race Equality Network and Act as One will also be sharing the information from the booklet across their social media platforms throughout the winter months.

The Winter Support and Advice booklet can be found on the CABAD website https://www.cabad.org.uk/winterbooklet or people can pick up a hard copies from their local library, community centre, foodbank or information centres.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said: “For many this winter period will be a challenge - physically, mentally and financially. We are really pleased to launch the Winter Advice and Support campaign with this booklet for the residents of the Bradford District. It is great to know that whatever the problem, people can get sign-posted to the right support service in order to help them get through the challenging winter months.”

Soo Nevison, Chief Executive Officer, Community Action Bradford & District (CABAD) said: “We are delighted to be able to offer this Winter Advice and Support booklet to residents, offering a helping hand and signposting to much-needed local services. We would encourage everybody to pick up a copy, for themselves, for a friend or family member – you may not need it today, but you might need it one day.”

Humma Nizami, Race Equality Network said: “We want to make sure that everyone living in Bradford and district is supported and feels cared for, especially during winter months. The Winter Advice Booklet is a useful resource offering information on a wide range of local services and ensuring people are able to access the correct level of advice and the help they need.”
