A FORMER city centre restaurant building will re-open under plans that have been approved by Bradford Council this week.

The unit on Wilton Street, just off Morley Street, is currently used as storage, and has not been used as a restaurant in years.

Earlier this year a planning application to turn the former 19th century coach house into a restaurant was refused by planning officers.

They raised concerns about modern additions planned for the building, as well as plans to build an outdoor terrace that would open until midnight.

They argued that this aspect of the business would cause disruption for people living near the restaurant.

The plans, albeit a scaled back version, were resubmitted by Raja Wajid Nazir, and the Council has approved this second application.

Officers said: "The proposal represents a small economic gain and brings a property back into use ensuring its preservation and maintenance."

However, the approval is under the condition that no customers be allowed to sit outside the restaurant after 7pm.

The restaurant will be allowed to open until midnight.
