BURLEY IN WHARFEDALE'S Christmas light switch on at the weekend was deemed a 'success', despite the adverse weather conditions.

Organiser, Tom Sumner MBE said: "Despite the weather, Burley in Wharfedale still had a great turnout to support our 40th anniversary switch on and Peter Levy and Paul Hudson did a fantastic job and we did manage to hold a reduced Christmas Street Market. A big thank you to all the volunteers, helpers and all who took part in making the day such a success."

Burley in Wharfedale has over four miles of lights with many features old and new. The centre of the village is a focal point with the Christmas tree, nativity scene and the Roundhouse bedecked with lights.

Tom added: "The extension into the park proved such a success last year it has been expanded, do take the time to walk that way through Burley in Wharfedale’s very own “Winter Wonderland”

The display this year reaches new heights with a several new features including a special 40th anniversary one, the relocation of Santa and his Sleigh to its original position and yet further lights and lasers in the park."

The event took place on Saturday, November 27.
