PEOPLE are being asked to help shape plans to improve transport in Hipperholme, Northowram and Shelf.

Calderdale Council is exploring new ideas for potential improvements, at notoriously busy locations, such as Hipperholme crossroads, and the junctions at Stump Cross near Northowram and Stone Chair in Shelf.

The volume of traffic often results in congestions, delays and air quality issues.

The Council particularly want to hear ideas from people living and working in these areas and how these issues might be addressed.

There are also currently few facilities for people choosing to walk or cycle and public transport options are limited.

Over the next 12 months, the Council plans to develop and submit a proposal to seek further funding to help improve travel, accessibility and connectivity for all modes of transport while also protecting the environment for the residents and business owners.

Feedback received will be used to identify potential proposals.

People can have their say at hipperholmeandnortheastcalderdale.commonplace.is by December 20.

Calderdale Council’s cabinet member for regeneration and strategy, Councillor Jane Scullion, said: “This work is at an early stage, but it’s important that any proposals are shaped by local people who best understand the issues experienced in this area."
