A VILLAGE will see a bumper Christmas lights switch-on this weekend.

Lights will illuminate Wibsey from Saturday (December 4) and there will be lots to enjoy on the day.

A Christmas fair with stalls from local businesses and crafters will be held from 12.30-4.30pm at Wibsey Methodist Church, just off the high street in School Lane.

The switch-on event will start at 4.30 pm on the Fair Road roundabout, with music from Clifton and Lightcliffe Brass Band and Bradford Bulls players switching on the lights at 5pm, followed by refreshments in Wibsey Library.

Then in the evening, venues up and down the high street will be hosting live music.

The Shop Window Advent Calendar starts today (December 1) when one business per day will unveil their decorated shop window until December 24, giving families and shoppers something new to look for each day.

These 24 shops will also have mini Christmas trees installed for the first time.

This year, the organisers, Wibsey Events Group, have worked with businesses through Wibsey Business and Community Facebook page on the extra attractions.

Fifty businesses have contributed to the cost of the lights and events, which are also supported with cash raised by the Events Group and funding via Bradford Council.
