THE University of Bradford is one of 58 universities where staff are walking out for three consecutive days from today to Friday, December 3.

University and College Union (UCU) members are striking over pension cuts, pay and working conditions.

The UCU is demanding employers revoke their pension proposals, is asking for a pay increase for all staff and action to tackle workloads, pay inequality and insecure contracts.

UCU general secretary Jo Grady said: “It is regrettable that staff have been forced into taking industrial action again, but university bosses have shown little interest in negotiating and addressing the concerns. Staff are asking for the bare minimum in a sector awash with money.”

A University of Bradford spokesperson said: “The nature of industrial action means we will not know until the day which staff choose to strike. The University will do everything it can to ensure teaching, examinations and student support continue to operate effectively.

“While it is our intention to avoid studies being adversely affected, there is a chance that teaching may not proceed as originally planned.

“The University will remain open throughout this period and students will have access to campus facilities. In addition, the in-person winter graduations will proceed as planned.”
