A BRADFORD choir has been busy entertaining the masses at a number of Christmas lights switch ons around the district.

All Together Now (ATN), whose choir is ran by Chris Kemp, sing at a variety of local occasions and raise funds to several local charities.

This past weekend they began their festivities by performing at the switch on in Bingley on Saturday afternoon.

The organisers of the event, including Michelle Chapman and stallholders, worked tirelessly to put everything into place.

They were pleased to see everyone enjoying themselves on what was a very cold day.

The choir sang a variety of Christmas songs, including 'Winter Wonderland', 'Sleigh Ride', a spectacular version of 'Jingle Bells', and a hit that the whole crowd joined in with Slade's 'Merry Christmas Everybody'.

Choir members were not fazed by the freezing temperatures and had a whale of a time.

Barbara Hiley said: "It was wonderful to see the whole area buzzing again."

Fellow member Chris Kinsella added: "The afternoon brought the Christmas spirit to everyone, and was full of fun and frozen fingers."

New member Jill Saunders said: "It was a lovely atmosphere with so many friendly choir members."

The choir went on to battle the conditions and perform the following day at Skipton's Christmas lights switch on.

It was the third time ATN had sung just before the actual lights switch on in the town. It was made extra special considering last year's event did not go ahead due to the pandemic.

Right up to the wire, the choir were very doubtful of performing as the snow came down steadily.

Leader Chris Kemp was quick to assure members that it would not be a case of history repeating itself, telling everybody: "Okay folks, we are going for it in Skipton."

Extraordinarily, 50 members managed to make it down to sing a lively selection of Christmas songs, including; 'A Spaceman Came Travelling', 'Mary's Boy Child', and concluding with the ever popular 'Fairytale of New York' from The Pogues.

Choir member Lesley Widdop said: "We had a great crowd who loved us, and it was brilliant to sing."

Another choir member Sharon Chisnall added: "Well done to Chris Kemp and All Together Now."

In spite of some very challenging weather, all the members at ATN had the most joyous and amazing weekend in what was a brilliant start to festive season.
