AN MP has written to local salons in Bradford South to encourage them to sign up to Small Business Saturday on December 4.

Now in its ninth year, Small Business Saturday celebrates small business success and the contribution they make to the national economy and the fabric of communities.

The campaign encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support the small businesses in their area.

Last year alone, the campaign saw a record breaking £1.1 billion spent in small businesses across the UK in one day.

This year, with a special focus on Bradford South’s thriving beauty and aesthetics sector, Judith Cummins, MP for Bradford South, will be visiting salons and studios to hear from owners and customers.

Ms Cummins said: “Running a small business is not easy at the best of times, but the unprecedented events of the pandemic have meant small business owners have faced immense challenges like never before.

"I am asking small businesses in every industry to get involved with the campaign, and I’m encouraging residents across Bradford to shop locally on Saturday, December 4, and year round to support these small businesses that make our high streets integral parts of our community.”
