A BRADFORD community centre is hosting the first session of its meditation course this Friday.

The Sedbergh Youth & Community Centre holds the first part of its Introduction to Meditation between 10am and 11am.

The event is part of the Holistic Reach Programme – a one-year project funded by the National Lottery Community Fund – which targets problematic factors in the area and offers personal development opportunities.

Meditation has benefits including stress reduction, and promoting physical and mental wellbeing.

Project co-ordinator Lucy O’Farrell said: “We want to invite people who are inquisitive about meditation to come along to the course.

"It’s a great opportunity to learn the basics and to experience deep relaxation, practice visualisation and learn powerful meditation and healing tools.

"We’d like to thank the National Lottery Community Fund and the National Lottery players for making this project possible and helping us to make a huge difference to our community.

"The course will take place over four short sessions (November 26, January 28, February 25 and March 25) and people will learn how meditation can assist in healing all aspects of the mind and body and how to develop insight and intuition."

Admission is £1 per session (refreshments included).
