A DRIVING instructor has spoken of her "anger" after she was racially abused while travelling through part of Bradford.

She said the incident happened in Reevy Road, Buttershaw, last Thursday afternoon and is alleged to have involved a group of schoolboys.

The driving instructor, who wishes to remain anonymous, said she was with one of her students at the time, just after schools had finished for the day.

The learner driver, who was on a driving lesson, approached a busy junction and checked her mirrors and felt it was safe for her to turn.

At the point of turning, a group of boys realised they were now unable to cross the road as the student was turning. Upon seeing the driving instructor, who is of Pakistani descent, they shouted a racist slur, it is alleged.

The instructor highlighted that she very rarely drives through the Buttershaw area for this reason, but needed to on this occasion owing to the student's schedule.

The driving instructor, who posted details of the incident on social media and has since spoken to the T&A, said the boys were aged between 14 and 15 and she claimed they were wearing Buttershaw Business and Enterprise College (BBEC) uniform.

When contacted by the T&A, BBEC said no one was available for comment.

The instructor said: “I was angrier over what they had said more than I was upset, because there was nothing I could have done.

“Had I got out of the car and told them off, they probably would have just said it again.

“There were people around them and nobody said anything or made any effort to educate them.”
