Two people have been sentenced after they were convicted at separate trials at York Magistrates Court.
Stephen Kevan Lyons, 37, of Orchard Lane, Tadcaster, denied charges of harassment, threat to smash up a woman’s car and assaulting a woman in Hambleton.
After he was convicted at his trial, he was given a 16-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months on condition he does 30 days’ rehabilitative activities and 200 hours’ unpaid work.
He was also ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £128 statutory surcharge.
Kevin Sean Ward, 36, and Jordan Harland, 40, of Warwick Road South, Stretford, Trafford, Manchester, were jointly charged with an offence of stealing handbags worth £2,573 from Flannels in New Street, central York.
Harland pleaded not guilty but was found guilty in his absence. Ward pleaded guilty on the day of his trial.
Both were given 20-week prison sentences after the court took into account the defendants’ background and other matters.
Both were banned from driving for 12 months and 70 days and each was ordered to pay £1,286.50 compensation.
