THROUGHOUT the Bradford district there are scores of quality butchers supplying customers with top notch products.

Now it is YOUR chance to tell everyone which one is the best, as the Telegraph and Argus launches our T&A Best Butchers 2021 competition.

Do you prefer going to your local butchers for all the finest meats or you might just pop in now and again for the occasional pork pie. Either way we want to hear from you on which is your favourite.

The competition is latest one the T&A is running to highlight the fantastic businesses there are in the district.

Lauren Wood, marketing executive at the Telegraph and Argus, feels the award will give butchers that much-needed boost going into a stressful season.

She said: “Coming up to the Christmas period, it will be one of the busiest times of the year for butchers.

“It seems only right to give the hardworking businesses recognition for that.

“So many families will rely on them for their Christmas dinner, festive food and family gatherings this Christmas.

“It’s a lot of pressure to accommodate for that huge rise in customers!

“People trust butchers to provide such good quality products, that it’s a no brainer to switch from a supermarket shop to your local butcher, especially over the festive period.” A trip to the butchers is a much more unique and personal experience than that of a supermarket.

Many people create a great relationship with their local carver who may take weekly orders or leave a piece of meat in reserve.

These dwindling businessmen are often self-employed so rely on the custom of those in the local community, an even greater reason for you to get involved and submit your nomination to continue that support.

The T&A Best Butchers competition is the latest in a number of competitions we have run recognising the great businesses we have in the Bradford district.

In the past year, some of the competitions we have run have included Best Eat Out to Help Out, Best Fish and Chip Shop, Best Pub, Best Hair Salon and most recently, Best Cafe.

“People get so excited to get involved with these competitions,” said Lauren.

“We’ve had a really positive response to them.

“We can get thousands of nominations and sometimes we’ve had 3,000 to 4,000 nominations for one place.

“They’re really popular.”
