TWO care workers at a Guiseley Extra Care housing scheme have triumphed at the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Finals of the Great British Care Awards 2021.
Victoria Longbottom and Lois Simpson, from Anchor’s The Laureates Extra Care housing scheme, on Shakespeare Road, were named as the winners of the Home Care Coordinator Award and the Frontline Leader Award respectively.
The awards, which aim to recognise excellence across the care sector, were held at the National Railway Museum in York on 12 November.
The Great British Care Awards pay tribute to individuals who have gone the extra mile to help improve the lives of residents within their care.
Judges concluded that Victoria and Lois demonstrated clear vision, passion and dedication to the people in their care, as well as their families, and worked well with their colleagues at Anchor’s The Laureates.
Having won their regional award, Victoria and Lois will now go on to represent Yorkshire and the Humber in their categories in the National Finals, which will take place in March 2022.
Victoria said: “I’m delighted - it hasn’t quite sunk in yet, it was wonderful just to be nominated, but I’m really honoured to have won Home Care Coordinator Award in the whole of the region."
Lois said: “I’m absolutely blown away, not only to be nominated for this, but to have won the Frontline Leader Award. I am very grateful for my team at The Laureates, without them this wouldn’t have been possible."
