A BRADFORD car dealership has been fined £1,000 for failing to provide police with the identity of a driver who was alleged to have committed an offence.

SK Autobahn, in Sticker Lane, which sells an extensive range of second hand cars, was found guilty of not complying with a police request on October 21 last year.

The case was heard at Harrogate Magistrates' Court last Wednesday (November 10).

There was nobody there to represent SK Autobahn and the business was proved to be guilty in its absence.

It is in relation to a request made at the Traffic Bureau in York by, or on behalf of, the Chief Officer of Police for North Yorkshire.

The request was for information from SK Autobahn relating to the identification of the driver of a black Volkswagen Jetta, who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

The vehicle's MOT expired on October 17, according to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).

SK Autobahn was ordered by the court to pay £1,185 in total.

This includes a £1,000 fine, a £100 surcharge to fund victim services and costs of £85.

The balance must be paid by December 8.
