A SELECTION of items from Bradford’s sporting past, including one featuring a Bantams legend, are set to go under the hammer in an online auction.

Programmes and cards from the likes of Bradford City, Bradford (Park Avenue), cricket and speedway events held at Odsal Stadium are up for grabs on the Midland Sports Auctions website.

A card with a picture of City player Peter Logan, dating back to 1910, is on sale at the auction.

Logan was a member of the City side that lifted the FA Cup in 1911. The inside right made 304 appearances for the club between 1908 and 1926, scoring 43 goals during his spell.

This item, lot number 978, has an auctioneer’s estimate of £14 to £16.

It was part of Baines' football cards collection, with the firm based at Oak Lane, Bradford.

Meanwhile, Avenue fans can grab a piece of the club's history with a programme from the club's clash with Plymouth Argyle from the 1940s.

The Second Division clash, on December 17, 1949, saw Avenue seal a 3-2 victory. Lot 182 is on for an auctioneer's estimate of £12 to £15.

Speedway fans are catered for in the auction with memorabilia from action at Odsal up for grabs.

A collection of speedway programmes from Odsal fixtures from 1948, lot 131, are available for a guide price of between £25 and £30.

A book, 'The Odsal Speedway Story 1945-1953', written by FJ Knowles, originally priced at three shillings is also included. Lot 1537 is available for between £10 and £12.

A black and white original Odsal Speedway Team group photograph is also up for sale. Lot 1655, is up for an estimate of £6 to £8.

The souvenir programme from an England v Australia speedway Test match held at Odsal is also featured. This item, lot 429, dates back to Saturday, July 5, 1947.

Other pieces of football memorabilia are included such as a team sheet/programme from a National Association of Boys' Club's Inter-Counties clash between Yorkshire and Northumberland played at Leeds United.

This fixture, held on January 10, 1948, is lot number 858 and the auctioneer's estimate is £18 to £20.

Other items included in the auction are a Baines Yorkshire cricket card from 1910, featuring Lord Hawke, available for an estimated £14 to £16.

Another piece of cricket memorabilia is a scorecard from a three-day clash between Yorkshire and Lancashire held in May 1926. This is estimated to fetch between £8 and £10 at the auction.

All of these items for the online auction will be available for bids from now until November 28.

Tim Beddow, of Midland Sports Auctions, is expecting a lot of interest in the items.

He said: "The Bains cards in particular are highly sought after and were made in Bradford.

There are quite a few nice items from Bradford for this auction. These are quite exceptional

"We get a lot of interest from Bradford in our items. We get quite a few Bradford City and Bradford (Park Avenue) items."
