A MAN has been jailed for a string of shop thefts in the Bradford district.

John Pearcey, 41, of Braithwaite Crescent, Keighley, was jailed for a total of 44 weeks for 12 offences. They were: 

  • He was jailed for 16 weeks and ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge for stealing five pairs of jeans worth £130, from Next, Queensway, Airedale Shopping Centre, Keighley, on June 1, 2021.
  • He was committed to prison for 16 weeks, to run concurrently, for stealing 25 bottles of shampoo, worth £50, from Poundland, Airedale Shopping Centre, Keighley, on July 2, 2021.
  • Pearcey was jailed for 16 weeks, to run concurrently, for stealing five T-shirts, worth £35, from Peacocks, Airedale Shopping Centre, on July 2, 2021.
  • He was jailed for 16 weeks, to run concurrently, for stealing 20 T-shirts, worth £399.80, from Trespass, Keighley, on July 2, 2021.
  • He was committed to prison for 16 weeks, to run concurrently, for stealing four pairs of shoes and two coats, worth £112, from Peacocks, Keighley, on July 4, 2021.
  • Pearcey was jailed for 16 weeks, to run concurrently, for stealing six T-shirts, worth £40, from Peacocks, Keighley, on July 4, 2021.
  • He was committed to prison for 16 weeks, to run concurrently, for stealing 15 bottles of shampoo, worth £30, from Poundland, Keighley, on July 11, 2021.
  • He was jailed for 16 weeks, to run concurrently, for stealing one Flymo lawn mower, worth £40, from Morrisons, Keighley, on July 14, 2021.
  • Pearcey was committed to prison for 16 weeks, to run concurrently, for stealing £100 worth of shampoo, from Poundland, Keighley, on August 8, 2021.
  • He was committed to prison for 16 weeks, to run concurrently, for stealing £200 worth of shampoo from Poundland, Keighley, on August 9, 2021.
  • Pearcey was jailed for four weeks, to run concurrently, for using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour with intent to cause fear of/provoke unlawful violence, on July 2, 2021.
  • He was committed to prison for two weeks, consecutive to offence number one, for failing to surrender to police/court bail at the appointed time, on September 6, 2021.

Pearcey pleaded guilty to all charges when he was sentenced at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court on October 26, 2021.
