A BRADFORD district butchers is set to take centre stage at one of the largest food halls in Yorkshire.

Robertshaw's, based in Thornton, will be part of the new Crimple Food Hall, the 20,000-sqft build based at Crimple Garden Centre in Harrogate.

James Robertshaw, grandson of the founder Harry Robertshaw, is now at the helm of Robertshaw’s and his son Harley will be the new face at the butcher’s counter at Crimple.

Part of the huge new Crimple Food Hall, which opens this month, the Robertshaw’s butcher’s counter is vast consisting of a 12-metre long cabinet, four multi-decks and a dry aged unit and will offer a range of locally sourced meats, specialist cuts, homemade sausages, burgers and kebabs and a ready to cook range made using local ingredients

James Robertshaw, owner of Robertshaw's, said: “We have watched the food hall be planned and built over the past few years and knew this was a project we wanted to be involved in.

"To be able to have a shop front in such a prestigious food hall on the edge of Harrogate, offering our best quality products is a fantastic opportunity."

Harley Robertshaw said: “Supporting local farmers in the surrounding community reduces food miles which is better for the community.

"The welfare of the animals is the highest and we know exactly where our food comes from. All these factors make a difference to create a better tasting meat.”

Customers to Crimple will also be able to order Robertshaw’s meat and pies at the Crimple restaurant.

"James and his team have over 200 years of butchery and farming experience between them and to have them as Crimple’s butchers is fantastic.”

Robertshaw’s started in 1929 and are a fourth generation award-winning farmers and butchers. Owner James handpicks the best meats by purchasing from local auctions and from farmers he knows and trust, in addition, the farm in Thornton Bradford, produces more than 200 lambs.

Everything is butchered in-house by the highly skilled team where they create the award-winning sausages and burgers from scratch as well as a ready to cook range.

In addition to Robertshaw’s, Crimple’s team has already sourced more than 50 local and speciality producers for the food hall from curry sauces, coffee beans and cheeses, to speciality gin and vodkas and beers.

Customers will also be able to shop at Crimple’s own bakery, with bread, pastries, pizzas, and sweet bakes made freshly on the premises.

As well as the food hall, Crimple also offers a restaurant, café, event space and garden centre. The restaurant, which offers a chef’s table, and garden centre will open 8am to 5pm, and bar until 7pm. The food hall will open from 8am to 7pm. Sundays all areas 10am to 4pm.

Crimple restaurant seats more than 160 and offer indoor and outdoor event spaces for weddings, parties and corporate events.
