LIVERSEDGE created a mammoth shock by smashing Scarborough Athletic 4-0 to book their place in the first round of the Buildbase FA Trophy.

The Seadogs currently ply their trade in the Northern Premier League Premier Division - a league above Sedge - but you would not have known that given this result.

Jack Stockdill opened the scoring just after the 10-minute mark with a cool finish from inside the area.

Both teams had chances before the first period came to its close.

Paul Walker then gave the hosts a vital second after the break to dent Scarborough's hopes.

Ben Atkinson jumped on the scoresheet to put the win beyond doubt. Joe Walton was played through down the right and squared to Atkinson who found the right corner.

Nicky Walker joined the party with an unbelievable strike. Outside the box, his left foot efforted crashed in off the post.

It means Jonathan Rimmington's men have now only been beating once - a 2-0 FA Cup defeat at Runcorn Linnets - in 16 games in all competitions so far this season.

In Sedge's former league, the Toolstation Northern Counties East Premier Division, Eccleshill United continued their promotion bid while Albion Sports plunged even deeper down the table following a sixth successive defeat.

Let's start with the positives and that was Eccleshill almost managing to secure the three points over fellow chasers Garforth Town.

Sam Bradley broke the deadlock before Sam Denton equalised matters with only two minutes to go.

As for Albion, they found themselves on the wrong end of a 3-1 defeat at Knaresborough Town. Colin Heath, Bradley Walker and Mark Simpson all netted to make Graham Hall's strike merely a consolation.

Elsewhere, Thackley lost out 2-1 on their travels to Bottesford Town. Albert Ibrahimi's 88th minute strike was the only shining light as Joe Simpson and Luke Ayris bagged for the home team.

Campion played out a thrilling 3-3 draw with Ashton Town in their North West Counties First Division North clash.

A Thomas McNamara brace meant the visitors had to come from behind and they did through Aiden Kirby and Robbie Graham.

Bradley Williams put Ashton back in the lead a minute after Graham's strike. Non-league veteran Nicky Boshell made sure Campion rescued a point though.

Luke Baldwin's injury-time strike was redundant to Steeton as they were downed 3-1 by Holker Old Boys. Jamie Hodgson, Farryl Foster and William McGladdery scored for the visitors.
