WEST Yorkshire Police's Facebook page suffered an offensive and embarrassing hack this morning which the police removed and apologised for.
The post featured a scantily clad woman on a beach but had insensitively used the name of a missing teenager, Cadey Smith, from Huddersfield, which was an ongoing alert at the time.
The picture included information she was from New York.
Fortunately Cadey has since been found safe and well.
West Yorkshire Police said they were able to take down the post but not before it had been seen and commented on by a lot of people.
A spokesman said: "We are aware that our Facebook account was compromised this morning through unauthorised access.
"We acted quickly and were able to take down the post within eight minutes.
"We have since taken further action to secure the account and an investigation has been launched.
"We apologise for any offence this may have caused."
