A KNIFE was found in a Bradford primary school earlier this week and is understood to have been taken onto the premises by a pupil.

It happened at Southmere Primary Academy, Great Horton, which is run by the Delta Academies Trust.

The Telegraph & Argus was alerted to a serious incident in the school by a source who wished to remain anonymous.

After contacting the school directly, the Trust and West Yorkshire Police, a brief statement was issued this afternoon by police which said: “Police have made further enquiries into this matter and have established that a knife was recovered at the school on Tuesday, October 19.

“No threats were made to any staff and partner agencies have been contacted regarding the pupil involved.”

West Yorkshire Police confirmed to the Telegraph & Argus that police had “did not receive any calls for service” regarding the incident and made further enquiries when asked about it by the T&A on Thursday.

Delta Academies Trust has also been asked if it wishes to make a comment.
