A NEW app which is aiming to improve how families enjoy Bradford parks over half-term has been launched.

Bradford Council, JU:MP and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have worked in partnership to develop and launch the Love Exploring app, which will help families in the district find fun things to do in Lister Park, Peel Park, Harold Park and Horton Park.

The free app puts the power of discovery in users’ hands by providing a range of quiz trails and guided tours, and with Halloween fast approaching, has a number of season-themed activities on offer.

In Lister Park, there is also an activity where you can use your phone to find ‘dinosaurs’ in the park, and then test your knowledge on them in a quiz.

Cllr Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said: “This is a fabulous resource for families to use this half-term. It combines being active in the fresh air with some spooky fun Halloween characters in your local park.”

Caroline Swain, Community Engagement Manager for the JU:MP programme, added: “Love Exploring is an excellent way for families to get out, get active and explore the hidden gems in their local parks, with a variety of trails that appeal to all.”

Tom Matthews, the creative mind behind the app, added: “As a father, I am always on the lookout for good activities that we can enjoy as a family.

“Parks have so many stories to tell, but they aren’t always easy to discover. The Love Exploring app uncovers the stories and then presents them in ways for everyone to enjoy.

"I wanted to ensure that Love Exploring was an app that both children and adults could engage with. Our app brings the park to life through Halloween visuals, sounds and quizzes, taking you on a visual and immersive journey - all from the palm of your hand.”

To get started, simply download the Love Exploring app on your smartphone, select the park and scan away.
