A BRADFORD man has been sent to prison for a spate of alcohol thefts from shops and not paying a charge for a taxi ride.
Thomas Hanslip, 37, of Tong Street, Dudley Hill, was sent to prison for a total of 16 weeks for the offences.
He was sent to prison for four weeks, to run consecutively to offence number one, for stealing two bottles of alcohol, worth a total of £28.50, from Iceland, Shipley, on August 21, 2021.
Hanslip was committed to prison for four weeks, to run consecutively, for stealing two bottles of alcohol, worth a total of £46, from Co-op Food Store, Northgate, Baildon, on August 18, 2021.
He was committed to prison for four weeks, to run consecutively, for stealing two bottles of alcohol, worth a total of £28.50, from Iceland, Shipley, on August 23, 2021.
He was committed to prison for four weeks and ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge for making off without making payment, avoiding paying £25, after a taxi journey at Wycliffe Gardens, Shipley, on August 19, 2021.
The offences were deemed to serious because of the defendant's history of non-compliance with court orders, because the offence was committed during the operational period of a suspended sentence.
Hanslip pleaded guilty to all four offences when he appeared at Bradford & Keighley Magistrates Court on October 13, 2021.
