TWO women accused of murdering a Keighley toddler last year will be in court from tomorrow for their trial at Bradford Crown Court.

Savannah Brockhill and Frankie Smith have both been charged with the murder of 16-month-old Star Hobson, and also with causing or allowing her death.

After previously being slated to start today (Tuesday) the trial will now begin on Wednesday when the prosecution will lay out its case against the pair

Brockhill, 28, of Hawthorn Close, Keighley, and Smith, 20, of Wesley Place, Halifax Road, Keighley, have both denied all charges against them.

They first appeared in court last September after being charged with allegedly causing the death of baby Star.

Their trial has been delayed twice, once in May due to the prosecution requiring an expert report, and then it had to be put back again at the beginning of this month due to one of the lawyers in the case returning a positive Covid-19 test.

The case will now begin on Wednesday, and we will be covering the case in a live blog to bring the latest updates from the trial as they happen.

Star Hobson was taken to hospital on September 22, 2020, and was pronounced deceased a short time later aged only one year and four months old.

Her death was followed by an outpouring of grief and emotion in Keighley, with heart-breaking tributes made by the young girl’s family and scores of supportive messages left by councillors and other residents in the town.
