The UK’s community bank, Metro Bank, will host a Grand Opening for its new Bradford store on Saturday 16th October.

The store will be officially opened by Bradford’s Deputy Mayor, Cllr Beverley Mullaney who will attend the opening with her consort, Tom Mullaney.

Hosted by Metro Bank local director Fraser Anderson and store manager Denis Charlotte, Metro Bank is inviting Bradford residents and businesses to join in the celebrations from 8.30am – 5pm bringing their dogs along as the Bank is famously dog friendly.

A range of entertainment is planned throughout the day including stilt walkers and face painting (10am - 4pm), a live DJ until 5pm and guest appearances throughout the day from Metro Bank’s striking mascot - Metro Man.  Colleagues from Metro Bank stores across the UK will be out on the streets to greet everyone and there will be surprise giveaways.

Fraser Anderson, Bradford Metro Bank’s local director says: “We are overwhelmed by the reception we have received from the local community even though we have only been open for a couple of months.  We have seen a steady increase in new personal and business accounts openings and our safe deposit boxes have proved particularly popular.”

Metro Bank opened its 78th store in Bradford in August creating 20 new jobs for the area.  Bradford is Metro Bank’s most northern based store and serves local residents and businesses seven days a week.

Bradford Metro Bank colleagues not only come from the community, but are already supporting it.  They recently spent time at the West Bowling Youth Initiative, a local charity providing support with youth unemployment and school work and creating volunteering opportunities to build confidence.

In term time store colleagues will also work with local schools to deliver Money Zone - a free financial education workshop comprising three modules – banking, saving and budgeting; to date, over 203,000 children across the UK have completed this programme.
