Driver fled scene of three-car smash after being pursued by police on M62
THE driver of a car which had been involved in a motorway police chase fled the scene after a crash.
Emergency services were scrambled to the three-car smash, on Gelderd Road close to junction 27 of the M62, shortly after 1am today.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "The incident involved three vehicles.
"The driver of one of the vehicles, which had earlier been involved in a police pursuit on the M62, fled the scene."
Firefighters had to free the driver of one of the other cars and he was taken to hospital.
