AFTER a fourth male was charged with murder and attempted murder and appeared before crown court today, here is a timeline of the police investigation into Kian Tordoff’s death.
Arbaz Khan, 21, and Aizaz Khan, 26, both of Yew Tree Avenue, Allerton, along with a 16-year-old boy from Bradford who cannot be named for legal reasons due to his age, have all been charged and were remanded in custody to appear at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court today.
They are accused of murdering Kian Tordoff, 19, and attempting to murder his friend Matthew Lowther, also 19.
Following the fast-paced investigation by police, here is a timeline covering how the events surrounding Kian’s death unfolded and everything we know so far.
- Saturday, October 9, evening – Kian Tordoff and Matthew Lowther go out for a night of partying and fun, with the Village Nightclub in Sackville Street their chosen destination according to a close friend.
- Sunday, October 10, around 5am – a large-scale fight breaks out in John Street at the top of town involving a considerable number of people.
- Sunday, 5.45am – Police are called to John Street, where they find Kian Tordoff and Matthew Lowther, both with stabbing injuries. Kian Tordoff was pronounced dead at the scene and Matthew was rushed to hospital, where on Sunday he was said to be in a critical but stable condition
- Sunday daytime – A large police cordon is set up at the top of town, blocking off John Street and surrounding areas for much of the day while police conduct enquiries at the scene.
- Sunday, around 12pm – Forensics officers arrive on the scene and begin marking out evidence in the scene, with much of the attention focused on a red liquid stain which looked like blood outside Paul James jewellers.
- Sunday, 12.45pm – Police put out a statement revealing the scene as a murder investigation following a stabbing in the early hours, and said a 16-year-old boy and 26 year old man had been arrested on suspicion murder and attempted murder
- Sunday, 1pm – The victim Kian Tordoff begins to be named locally, with tributes flooding in on social media for him and messages for injured friend Matthew Lowther.
- Sunday, 7.20pm – The scene and cordon is lifted after more than 12 hours, with flowers left in memory of Kian.
- Monday, October 11 – A third man, aged 21, is arrested on suspicion of murder in relation to the case.
- Tuesday, October 12 – Police officially confirm the identity of the victim in the incident as 19-year-old Kian Tordoff. Matthew Lowther is also said to be stable in hospital.
- Wednesday, October 13 – A police presence is noted in Yew Tree Crescent in Allerton, which police confirmed was in relation to the murder inquiry around the death of Kian Tordoff.
- Thursday, October 14 – Police announce that Arbaz Khan, 21, Aizaz Khan, 26, and a boy, 16, have all been charged with murdering Kian Tordoff and attempting to murder Matthew Lowther in the incident. They are all remanded in custody and appear before Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court, where the case is sent to Bradford Crown Court for its next hearing.
- Friday, October 15 – The three charged individuals appear at Bradford Crown Court in the morning and they are all remanded back into custody. Another hearing was fixed for November 5 when a trial date will be set.
- Monday, October 18 - A fourth male is charged with murder and attempted murder. Police announce that Amaad Shakiel, 20, has been charged with the two offences and is due to appear at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court before the morning session.
- Wednesday, October 20 - The fourth male appeared at Bradford Crown Court in the morning. His case will now tie-in with the three co-accused. Police also confirmed that Mr Lowther is out of hospital and expected to make a full recovery.
