BRADFORD Council have not followed neighbours Calderdale in issuing recommendations around additional safety measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Yesterday, the latter asked secondary schools to consider asking staff and students to use face coverings and advised all schools to consider how they can limit mixing between groups and limit visitors.

This came after rates of Covid-19 in Calderdale were seen higher than they have ever been throughout the pandemic - with cases mostly present in secondary school-aged children.

In Bradford, the council have not issued this widespread advice. Instead, they will treat each school on an individual basis.

A Bradford Council spokesperson said: “At present we have not issued any district-wide recommendations around additional safety measures.

“We do, however, work closely with schools to advise on any specific measures that may be appropriate for their individual circumstances if we see higher rates of transmission.”
