The jury is due to resume its deliberations tomorrow morning in the case of a police sergeant who denies raping a woman after a night out.
Ben Lister, 36, has been on trial at Bradford Crown Court since last week and the jury was sent home for the night this afternoon.
Last Thursday, Lister described to jurors how he had sex with a woman at a house after going out for drinks with friends, but denied it was without her consent. Lister said: “I know what consent is. I wouldn’t just start to have sex with someone.”
Earlier in the case, the woman told a court she had nightmares about what happened on the night.
The trial has heard that Lister is accused of dragging the “very drunk” woman off the sofa as she slept, before touching her sexually while she drifted “in and out of consciousness”.
