A GUISELEY man has been banned from driving for 40 months after pleading guilty to drink driving on Bingley Road near Ilkley.

Paul Curwen, 42, of Netherfield Road, Guiseley, appeared for sentencing at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates Court on Monday, October 4 after previously pleading guilty to the charge of: "On 03/07/2021 at Ilkley, West Yorkshire drove a motor vehicle, namely WJ67UUS an Audi TT on a road, namely Bingley Road, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in your breath, namely 119 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit. Contrary to section 5(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988."

Magistrates made a community order saying: "The defendant must comply with the following requirements by 03/10/2022: Rehabilitation Activity Requirement: Offender to comply with any instructions of the responsible officer to attend appointments (with the responsible officer or someone else nominated by them), or to participate in any activity as required by the responsible officer up to a maximum of 10 days. Unpaid Work Requirement: Carry out unpaid work for 60 hours within the next twelve months. This work will be supervised by the responsible officer."

He was also ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £95 and costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

He was disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for 40 months from 23/07/2021.

The defendant's guilty plea was taken into account when imposing sentence.
